Extra Notes

A few months ago, I went into an agreement with Deviantart user vodkaffee to do an art trade. He wanted me to draw an Octopus Hold featuring some of the sextuplets in the recently-concluded Mr. Osomatsu (also known as Osomatsu-san). It took me a while to finish this, since I got busy with work. But finally, it’s here.

For this piece, I was very fortunate to come across a few tutorials on how to draw Osomatsu-san and the other sextuplets. Of particular note was this tutorial by Pixiv user あやめん. Not only did it tell me how to draw them, but also what color to use for the characters to make it similar to their appearance in the anime series.

When I conceptualized this piece, I was thinking of the first two sextuplets, the leader Osomatsu and the ladies’ man Karamatsu. From what I understand Osomatsu is stronger in pro-wrestling than Karamatsu, so I thought of letting Osomatsu lock Karamatsu up with the Octopus Hold.

I’m really glad with the end result here. It allowed me to try something new with my illustrations, especially since it wasn’t the kind of pro-wrestling illustration that I often do. I’d like to thank vodkaffee for this opportunity.
