If you told me two years ago that Shinsuke Nakamura would actually end up in the WWE, I wouldn’t have believed you. And yet here we are today, with Nakamura being successful in his debut match in the WWE. As such, I decided to release this revised version of my old 2014 drawing based on the “King of Strong Style” gimmick.
I began the Attack on Titan alternate universe “Attack on Pro-Wrestling” at the same time that I began to follow New Japan Pro-Wrestling. As such, I decided to match the Attack on Titan characters with a gimmick from top NJPW pro-wrestlers, with some hope that they’d get some mileage from it. One of them was Levi Ackerman, the short-yet-deadly captain of the Survey Corps, being paired with the equally deadly Nakamura. It felt like a perfect fit for me, even though Levi isn’t exactly known for theatrics like Nakamura is. As one Nakamura video once put it, I could feel the “Nakamura-ness” in Levi.
When I got to browse my old illustration again, I realized that my full drawing of “Nakamura Levi” (as I’d like to call it) could still be worked on and made better. Since I had recently downloaded CLIP STUDIO PAINT, I also thought it’d be a good opportunity to try out its “Correct line width” feature for this piece. Thus, this piece was made.
So now that Nakamura is in the WWE already, my original conception of “Attack on Pro-Wrestling” as a fictional promotion based on NJPW is officially in shambles. On the bright side, that leaves the door open for more opportunities to try other ideas as well.

As part of my ongoing Attack on Titan birthday tribute series, I’ve made a special birthday tribute to Erwin Smith, who celebrates his birthday today (October 14).
Since I’ve drawn Erwin donning the outfit of pro-wrestler Yuji Nagata in the past, I decided to carry on the “Blue Justice” gimmick. That’s why I drew Erwin applying an Arm lock (Udegatame).
Others call this move the Shirome, but to be called as such you’d need to have the dominant wrestler rolling his eyes and make it white, which is what Nagata does when he applies this hold. I opted to try using one of Erwin’s epic facial expressions from the anime instead.
Admittedly though, the facial expression is neither as epic nor as funny as I would’ve wanted it to look like, but I’m still satisfied with the result.
And why is Levi his opponent? Well, he’s the one guy that I normally associate Erwin with, so that’s pretty much my reason. Anyway, when I get to do the birthday tribute for Levi later this year, he’s going to get his revenge.
