A year ago, I learned about Middle Kingdom Wrestling (MKW), a pro-wrestling promotion based in China. Along the way, I saw that they have crowned a new champion. His name was Michael Su.

My first impression of him was that he looked like a charming guy with a friendly smile, but of course it’s nothing compared to his actual in-ring ability. His presentation of himself was great, he had the aura of a natural babyface, and he showed the ability to be able to kick ass. I learned more about the guy, his wrestling career around Asia (including the Philippines and Japan), and the other stuff he’s been doing in Hongkong, so I grew to like him. A fan art was inevitably on the horizons.

Recently though, he suffered an injury which put him in the sidelines for the past few months, and the ongoing pandemic adds further to the problem. However, he is on the road to recovery, and he regularly posts videos on his Instagram to update fans on his health progress. The videos are actually quite inspiring to see, so I thought I’d help cheer him up by producing this fan art.

This piece maximized on the yellow and white colors, which are the key colors of Su’s ring gear. I also experimented with some brushes in Medibang Paint, so it gave a look that I’ve never really done before. Personally, I’m glad with how unique this piece looked.
