Extra Notes:

One of my online friends was celebrating his birthday earlier this year, so I decided to gift him with a fan art of one of his favorite American indie wrestlers: Brett Ryan Gosselin, also known as The Victorious BRG. Today, I’m making the piece public.

BRG originally presented himself as an arrogant heir of a wealthy family, but eventually altered his persona to that of an arrogant guy who thinks he’s a superstar. And although he calls himself victorious…well, experience says otherwise (as he himself noted in one podcast interview I watched).

Judging from his in-ring persona, he reminds me a bit like WWE pro-wrestler The Miz and his arrogant superstar gimmick. As such, I based his pose here similarly to The Miz’s.

When I started making the piece, I only thought of drawing him in his ring gear alone. But it felt like a few more accessories were needed to really bring out his gimmick, so I added his sunglasses and his t-shirt.

I also began originally with his green ring gear, but later realized that he had just shifted to orange ring gear. But since the design is more or less the same save for the colors, I opted to have both the green and orange designs.

BRG is apparenty a hockey fan as well, which is why his ring gear is inspired by the colors of his favorite hockey teams and his t-shirt design is inspired by the NHL logo. Though I don’t have an explicit reference to hockey in this piece, I hope the white background adds even a little a bit of a hockey vibe to it.

I also opted to make a new logo as well, similar to an ECW-inspired logo that BRG had at one point. By having this logo, I was hoping to make the final piece look a bit like a magazine cover.
